Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
Develop your Spanish language skills and learn about the cultures in Spanish-speaking parts of the world. You’ll practice communicating in Spanish and study real-life materials such as newspaper articles, films, music, and books.

Holding conversations in real-life situations
Writing stories, letters, emails, essays, and other texts

Build your language skills and cultural knowledge by exploring works of literature written in Spanish. Using Spanish to communicate, you’ll read, analyze, discuss, and write about works by Spanish, Latin-American, and U.S. Hispanic authors of different periods.
Skills You'll Learn
Interpreting, analyzing, and comparing literary works
Relating literary works to their cultural and historical contexts
Comparing literary works to works of art
Writing a literary analysis using correct literary terms
Discussing works of literature

11th Grade Internship Program
All 11th grade students participate in an internship program. Claremont partners with different employers to provide students with a variety of off-campus internship opportunities. We have partnerships in many different fields, including, schools, government agencies, hospitals and even an animal rescue organization!
Students will prepare for their working lives by learning to:
Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
Become more independent and responsible
Understand what it means to be professional: dress, behavior, communication

CUNY College Now
College Now is a FREE college transition/dual enrollment program for New York City Department of Education high school students. Claremont IHS partners with Hostos Community College to offer our students College Now courses.
College Now @ Hostos Community College is a campus-based program offering college credit courses after school on weekdays. College credit courses include Anatomy and Physiology, Business, Criminal Justice, Medical Terminology, Psychology, Public Speaking, Acting, and Community Health.
