CLIHS Internship Program
Work: Connection to the Economic Mainstream and a Competitive
Advantage for College Admission
ALL CLIHS 11th graders do 12-week internships during the spring
semester that give them work experience in the real world. By
interning in private companies, non-profit organizations,
government agencies and schools, Claremont students are taking an
important step in developing the independence they will need to
succeed in college and the labor force. The critical skills interns
learn include being responsible for themselves, communicating
effectively with supervisors and colleagues, and problem-solving.
Another benefit of the CLIHS Internship Program is that our
students, who are relatively new citizens of New York City, gain
experience navigating different parts of the city by public
transportation and communicating in English with people outside of
their communities.
